God vs Idols #Biblebee

Here is a quick snippet of what I was sudying last week!
Idol Characteristics according to the Bible:

Psalm 115:4-8, "Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they but they see not: They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not: They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they , but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat. They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them."

~Idols have mouths, eyes, ears, noses, hands, feet and throats but cannot speak, see, hear, smell, handle, walk, or utter through their throats.
~They are made by men who are helpless like them, of earthly precious things like silver and gold.

Jeremiah 10:14-15, "Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them."

~Molten images equal falsehood.
~They have no breath in them.
~They are vanity and works of errors, by sinful men with error filled lives.
~"...in the time of their visitation they shall perish..."
~Founders of graven images are brought to shame.

God's Characteristics according to the Bible:

Psalm 34:15-18. "The eyes of The Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry. The face of The Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cry, and The Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart;  and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."

~God sees and hears the righteous and delivers them.
~God's face and whole being is against evildoers.
~God is with us when our hearts are breaking.
~He saves those who have a contrite spirit.

Psalm 115:3, "But our God is in the heavens: He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased."

~God is in the heavens and does whatever He pleases.

Isaiah 45:11-12, "Thus saith The Lord, the Holy one of Israel, and His Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands commnad ye me. I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded."

~God is Holy
~He knows all.
~He made the earth and streched out the heavens.
~He created man.
~He commands the heavenly host.

Jeremiah 10:12-13, "He hath made the earth by His power, He hath established the world by His wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by His discretion. When He uttereth His voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; He maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of His treasuries."

~By His power He made the earth.
~By His wisdom He established the world.
~By His discretion He stretched out the heavens.
~God speaks into existence.
~He commands the waters, lightnings and winds.

Jeremiah 33:2-3, "Thus saith The Lord the maker thereof, The Lord that formed it, to establish it; The Lord is His name; Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

~God is the Maker that formed and established Israel.
~When called upon, He answers and shows us great and mighty things, which we knew not.

So to recap; Idols are false and powerless and God is sovereign. He is omnipotent and omnipresent. Those who follow Him and His Son will be counted as righteous, but those who follow idols are sorely lost. Choose this day whom YOU will serve. Will you serve the helpless idols the world sets before you? Or will you choose to embark on a mission to serve God along with me?
