Fortune Telling

Fortune telling is a very wicked practice. Yet, it is in human nature to want to know what the future holds. I know that I would love to know how my future would turn out, I would love to have a blue print of exactly how my life will go. But first of all, what's the fun in that? It would be like a scavenger hunt that you already knew all the answers, the treats and the destination. Second, God knows the plans he has for us; we don't. This causes us to place our trust in Him, knowing He is the author of our destiny.

Now some say, "no one, other than God, can see prophesy". This is true, but God can reveal this prophesy to men such as Abraham and inspire prophets such as Jeremiah to declare His word, including prophesies.

Another thing to take into consideration that is that although we can't "speak the language of the angels" or anything, speaking in tongues is a gift of God given to some believers.

"Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to ever man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts pf healing by the same Spirit; to another thw working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another the discerning of Spirits; to another diverse kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: but all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing every man severally as he will." (emphasis mine) 1 Corinthians 12:4-11

Now I think that this verse very clearly demonstrates that tongues are a spiritual gift that some people have. I think it is misused a lot modernly and people don’t actually understand the original meaning of speaking in tongues, but speaking in tongues is still a spiritual gift
