What do you think of Polonius? Is he a devoted and judicious father, a hypocritical windbag, or something in between?

Have you read The Hamlet? If you have feel free to answer this question in the comments! Here is my answer!

I think that with Hamlet’s quick swinging temper Polonius could have justly advised his daughter to cut off her relationship with him, but this is not what he does. Instead, Polonius acts like her love is ridiculous and is completely thoughtless about her feelings. He then continues to use her throughout the story for his own means, not considering how the places he puts her in will only add to her emotional turmoil. He does not strike me as cruel however. He seems more near sighted and overly focused on what other people think rather than caring about his own children.
