Swordstudy

WE JUST RECEIVED OUR SWORDSTUDY IN THE MAIL!

I have really fallen in love with the Swordstudy Biblestudies. They take you SO deep into God's Word and allow you to really focus on the meaning behind each chapter, each sentence, and each word. Then they help you tie it back to the WHOLE story outlined in the Bible; a story of redemption; a story of salvation and sacrifice.

You can still purchase the study HERE for a summer of deep biblical study and a growing relationship with the Lord.

If you are not familiar with Sword Study, here is a description:

"An in-depth study of 1 book of the Bible for 20 minutes each day for 5 days a week. The daily study consists of prayer using the A.C.T.S. model, investigation of Scripture, and application using the inductive, top down approach. The student of the Word uses Scripture to answer Scripture making the studies non-denominational and an ideal launching pad for discussion in the home and church."

I will hopefully be posting as I dig deeper into God's Word and specifically the book of Ruth.

You may think it is just a short book to skip over, but those four chapters are packed with biblical truths!

Isaiah 40:8
"The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever."

Before we continue with this study I'd like us to remember a few things about the first 9 books of the Bible. I'll share a short personal summary sentence, a key word, and then a passage.

1. Genesis: In the beginning God created. Creation.
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." Genesis 1:1-2

Adam and Eve disobey. Fall
"1Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 7And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. 8And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. 9And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?" Genesis 3:1-9

2. Exodus: Conflicts between Israelites, Pharaoh, Moses, God, and life. Trial. Exit.
Stop Whining! God has a plan for you.
9And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?" Exodus 14:10-14

3. Leviticus: God extends salvation to us and makes us holy. Holy.
"For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy." Leviticus 11:45

4. Numbers: God judges Israelites and their children for 40 years. Judgement.
"33And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness. 34After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise. 35I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die." Numbers 14:33-35

5. Deuteronomy 6:4-7: Bind the Word of the Lord on your heart! Love.
"4Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: 5And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." Deuteronomy 6: 4-7

6. Joshua: God provides Land, Prosperity, and Laws. Providence.
"1Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, 2Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. 3Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. 4From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. 5There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. 7Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest. 8This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."

7. Judges: Children of Israel worship other gods. Disobedience.

"18And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them. 19And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way. 20And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice; 21I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:" Judges 2:18-21

No right. No wrong. No King. Wickedness.
"In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes." Judges 21:25

8. Even though we are studying Ruth, we'll be skipping this book for now because we are going to go more in depth later. :)

9. 1 Samuel: God leaves "King thirsty" people to themselves. Rejection.

"1And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel. 2Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah: they were judges in Beersheba. 3And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment. 4Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah, 5And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. 6But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD. 7And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. 8According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee." 1 Samuel 8:1-8
